The electrical system of a Formula Student class car, resistant to electromagnetic interference and integrated with the autonomous system.
The PWR Racing Team successfully completed the project "Electromagnetic Interference-Resistant Electrical System for a Formula Student Car, Integrated with an Autonomous System." This project was made possible thanks to support from the "Student Research Clubs Create Innovations" program.
The funding received contributed to the technological development of our Research Club, enabling the optimization of hardware topology and investment in top-of-the-line equipment. Thanks to these funds, we achieved our substantive goals and introduced new solutions to our design.
How did the funding impact the Team?
- Modern Soldering Station: We purchased a professional hot air soldering station with a dedicated quartz heater. This allowed for the precise and safe assembly of advanced, multilayer PCBs without thermal shock to the delicate microcontrollers.
- 3D Printing Materials: We replaced milled, heavy aluminum housings with advanced engineering filaments. These are certified flame-retardant polymers that self-extinguish within 10 seconds of ignition. We used carbon fiber-reinforced material for the supporting elements, reducing the car's weight.
- Electronic components: The funds raised allowed us to purchase advanced semiconductors, including silicon carbide transistors that reduce thermal losses and reliable, vibration-resistant connectors from a British company used in the aerospace industry.
- Real-time diagnostics and testing: The heart of our new test bench is a precise, programmable DC laboratory power supply, which allows us to simulate deep voltage drops and rigorously test system stability.
The designed system successfully passed all load tests and will serve as the reliable core of the nervous system of our new RT16e car.
Thank you for your support, which drives our innovations! 🚀
The project is financed from the state budget, awarded by the Minister of Science and Higher Education under the "Student Research Groups Create Innovations" program.
